WORKSHOP #1 WOODCUT, JUNE 22-26
The first five-day summer workshop will focus on single or multi-color reduction woodcut, your choice. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their own designs, explore cutting techniques, and learn to use and maintain a printing press. There are six spots available, and we invite participants of all skill levels.
The cost is $475 and covers basic materials, including oil-based printing inks, newsprint, an initial supply of paper, and studio cutting tools. New tool sets are available for purchase. A $100 deposit will secure your spot, with the remaining balance due at the first class. We offer a 10% discount if you are enrolled in two or all three summer workshops.

WORKSHOP #3 REDUCTION WOODCUT, AUGUST 10-14
This is the final five-day reduction woodcut workshop at Don’s studio this summer. The third workshop of the summer continues from the previous two, building on what you have learned or serving as an introduction for new participants to the reduction woodcut print technique. All participants will have the opportunity to develop their own designs and explore cutting techniques. There are six spots available.

The Don Gorvett Studio and Gallery is located at 211 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA, upstairs at the Beacon Marine Basin.
Don’s workshops cover block design, tool and press usage, and relief printing techniques. He also discusses color theory as a fundamental part of the process. Art history, woodcut printing in the twentieth century, and selections from Don's classical music collection will be part of the conversation throughout the courses. The goal is for participants to understand the intricacies of relief block printing and to create small-edition prints to take home.
The workshop is limited to six participants, and we welcome all skill levels. We provide the woodblock, oil-based relief ink, some paper, and studio carving tools. Please bring a sketchbook for drawing and note-taking, drawing implements, and paper towels for clean-up. You are welcome to bring your own carving tools, or new toolsets are available for purchase; studio carving tools will be available during the workshop.
The price for all workshops is $475.00. All supplies are included, with the option to purchase a new toolset. A $100 deposit holds your spot. The balance is due on the first day of the course and is payable by check made out to Don Gorvett Gallery.
The Don Gorvett Studio, The Don Gorvett Gallery, and its employees or volunteers assume no responsibility for any loss, personal or physical. By enrolling in a course with Don Gorvett, participants may be photographed in class for future teaching and promotional efforts for the Don Gorvett Studio or the Don Gorvett Gallery.
Registration & Payment
To secure your spot in the course, please email info@dongorvettgallery.com with your name, address, and phone number, along with a check for a $100 deposit made out to Don Gorvett Gallery at 123 Market St., Portsmouth, NH, 03801. You may also make a payment by phone at 603-436-7278. The remaining balance is due during the first class.
Withdrawal & Refund Policy
If you need to withdraw from the workshop and wish to receive a full refund of your deposit, you must do so at least two weeks before the class begins. Otherwise, we will refund 50% of your deposit unless a replacement can be found, in which case you will receive a full refund. Once the course begins, no refunds will be processed. If, for any reason, Don Gorvett Studio cancels the workshop, we will notify registered participants and refund all fees. If the course does not meet the minimum enrollment of 3 participants, we will cancel it within 2 to 4 business days prior to the start of the class.
