Workshops #1 and #2 are introductions to reduction woodcut printmaking for adults seventeen or older. Workshops #3, #4, and #5 are one-week workshops for adults seventeen or older held in July and August. We welcome all skill levels; no experience is necessary. Workshops are limited to six participants. We will supply a woodblock, oil-based relief ink, some paper, and studio carving tools. Please bring a sketchbook for drawing and note-taking, drawing implements, and paper towels for clean-up. If you have carving tools, please bring them. We have studio carving tools available and new carving tool sets for purchase.
The workshop will cover block design, tool & press usage, and relief printing techniques as practiced by Don Gorvett. We will also discuss color theory, an integral part of the process. Art history, woodcut printing in the twentieth century, and selections from Don's classical music collection will be part of the conversation throughout the courses. The goal is for participants to understand the intricacies of relief block printing and create an edition of ten prints.

By enrolling in a course with Don Gorvett, participants consent to be photographed in class for future teaching and promotional efforts for the Don Gorvett Studio or the Don Gorvett Gallery.
Registration & Payment
To register and hold your place in the course, please email info@dongorvettgallery.com with your name, address, and phone number and a check for a $100 deposit to Don Gorvett Gallery, 123 Market St., Portsmouth, NH, 03801. You can also make a payment over the phone by calling 603-436-7278. The balance is due in the first class.
Withdrawal & Refund Policy
If you need to cancel your participation and want a full deposit refund, you must do so one week before the start of the class. Otherwise, we will refund one-half of your deposit unless you or the Don Gorvett Studio can find a replacement, in which case you will receive the full deposit. Once the course begins, no refunds will be given. If, for any reason, the Don Gorvett Studio cancels, we will notify registered participants and refund all fees. If the course does not meet a minimum enrollment of three, we will cancel it within two to four business days before the class begins.
