About Us:
Piscataqua fine arts is located in Portsmouth's historic old port, on the ground floor of a circa 1850's warehouse. We are directly opposite the Moran tugboats at 23 Ceres Street.
In addition to our collection of paintings and drawings, we are the only gallery in Portsmouth with a special emphasis on original woodblock prints and etchings. The bulk of our inventory is composed of the reduction woodcuts of renowned printmaker Don Gorvett, who owns and operates the gallery. In addition, we feature the work of a number of other fine printmakers, including Elinor Marvin, Sean Hurley, Shane Chick, Alex deConstant, Mark Phillips, and Alex Gerasev. We also feature a large collection of hand printed black and white photogra
phs by Conrad Marvin.
Our space also houses an active printmaking studio. We have two large etching presses - an American French Tool press with a 32" x 52" bed, and a new Conrad Etching Press (arriving this may) with a 24" x 48" bed. We offer workshops, lessons, and press time rental - see the studio page for details.
We are open most days from mid morning (usually around 10:00 AM) until evening (6:00 PM or later). Our phone number is (603) 431-4110.
